Every new Match Attax season has that one card.
The one somebody brings into school the morning after launch. The one passed carefully around the table at the local club. The one that makes everyone stop sorting their duplicates and lean in for a closer look.
This year, there might be several of them.
Match Attax 2026/27 celebrates the collection’s 20th anniversary with a completely revamped rarity system, five levels of base-card parallels and some of the toughest chase cards Topps has ever placed inside a Match Attax packet.
At the very top sits Mystical Full-Art, advertised at approximately one card in every 4,320 packets. Before that come Enigma at one in 2,160 and the comic-book brilliance of WHOOSH! at one in 540.
Those are enormous numbers, but they are only part of the story.
There are also star ratings, coloured parallels, Mirror Foils, Rainbow Foils, All-Time 100 Club cards, Infinity puzzle cards and several varieties of Limited Edition. Some cards are difficult to pull. Others are guaranteed in particular products. Some look rare without being especially scarce, while a fairly familiar base design could be hiding a five-star Hyper Rare parallel.
It sounds complicated. Happily, it is also rather good fun once you know what you are looking at. If you need to identify an individual card as you read, our complete Match Attax 2026/27 checklist covers all 559 cards in the collection.
In this guide
Match Attax 2026/27 rarities at a glance
If you have just pulled a card and want the quick answer, start here.
| Card type | What it means |
|---|---|
| Base-card parallels | Five rarity levels, from one-star Rare to five-star Hyper Rare |
| Mirror Foils | Two listed in each regular packet |
| Rainbow Foils | One listed in each regular packet |
| All-Time 100 Club | Nine holographic cards at approximately 1 in 12 packets |
| Infinity | Nine holographic puzzle cards at approximately 1 in 24 packets |
| WHOOSH! | Ten Hyper Rare chase cards at approximately 1 in 540 packets |
| Enigma | Ten Hyper Rare chase cards at approximately 1 in 2,160 packets |
| Mystical Full-Art | Five cards at approximately 1 in 4,320 packets |
| Limited Editions | Usually included with particular products rather than governed by one packet rate |
The crucial thing to understand is that these cards do not all sit on one long rarity ladder.
The stars belong to the base-card parallel system. Mirror Foil and Rainbow Foil are regular insert categories. WHOOSH!, Enigma and Mystical are separate chase-card families. Limited Editions have their own product-based distribution.
Once those layers are pulled apart, the collection suddenly becomes far easier to read.
What are the Match Attax 2026/27 rarity levels and symbols?
For the first time, Match Attax has a proper five-level rarity structure running through its base-card family.
Players, Leaders and Attax Debutants can appear as coloured parallels, with stars showing how scarce each version is:
| Stars | Rarity | Colour |
|---|---|---|
| ★ | Rare | Green |
| ★★ | Super Rare | Yellow |
| ★★★ | Mega Rare | Pink |
| ★★★★ | Ultra Rare | Gold |
| ★★★★★ | Hyper Rare | Black |
That progression gives even the base section a genuine chase.
Finding a familiar player is one thing. Finding the same player with a black five-star Hyper Rare treatment is something else entirely. It rewards collectors who actually look at their cards rather than simply separating everything into “shiny” and “not shiny”.
There is one important warning, though. A five-star Hyper Rare base parallel is not the same kind of card as an Enigma, even though Topps also describes Enigma as a Hyper Rare chase.
That is not a contradiction. The phrase is being used in two different contexts.
The five stars tell you where a parallel sits within the base-card hierarchy. Enigma is the name of a separate insert family with its own design, checklist and published pull rate. Think of them as two competitions using some of the same language, rather than consecutive steps on one enormous ladder.
Base parallels, foil cards and chase cards
This is the part that causes most of the confusion, so let’s clear the pitch.
Match Attax 2026/27 effectively has three different rarity conversations happening at once.
Base-card parallels
These are alternative versions of cards from the Players, Leaders and Attax Debutants sections.
The player and basic card design remain connected to the main set, but the colour and star symbol reveal the parallel’s rarity. The ladder runs from green one-star Rare cards through to black five-star Hyper Rare versions.
They are still part of the base-card family. They have not suddenly become WHOOSH! or Enigma cards because they carry a high rarity rating.
Mirror Foil and Rainbow Foil cards
Next come the inserts that provide the regular flash and colour of a Match Attax packet.
Mirror Foils include:
- Man of the Match Wildcard
- Power Play Signature Style
- Slick
- Attax Master
Rainbow Foils include:
- Goaliath
- Fortress
- Genuine Genius
- Attax Supreme Master
Topps lists two Mirror Foil cards and one Rainbow Foil card in a regular packet.
Some of these designs are spectacular, particularly under good light, but they are meant to be encountered as the collection grows. They are collectable foil subsets, not once-in-a-lifetime pulls.
The major chase cards
Then we reach the cards that can turn an ordinary packet opening into a very memorable afternoon:
- All-Time 100 Club
- All-Time Unbeatable 101
- Infinity
- WHOOSH!
- Enigma
- Mystical Full-Art
These sit outside the standard Mirror Foil and Rainbow Foil allocation. They have their own designs, checklists and, in several cases, extremely long advertised pull rates.
This is where the real chase begins.
Match Attax 2026/27 pull rates
Here are the published rates for the principal chase-card families:
| Card family | Number of cards | Advertised rate |
|---|---|---|
| All-Time 100 Club | 9 | Approximately 1 in 12 packets |
| Infinity | 9 | Approximately 1 in 24 packets |
| WHOOSH! | 10 | Approximately 1 in 540 packets |
| Enigma | 10 | Approximately 1 in 2,160 packets |
| Mystical Full-Art | 5 | Approximately 1 in 4,320 packets |
Topps qualifies these figures as relating to availability in display boxes. They are best understood as approximate rates across a large production run, not as promises attached to individual packets or sealed products.
The jump between those numbers is astonishing.
All-Time 100 Club and Infinity are proper chase cards, but they should still appear often enough to become a realistic part of many collections. WHOOSH! takes an enormous leap to one in 540. Enigma is four times harder to find again. Mystical then doubles the Enigma odds.
Based on the advertised rates, a Mystical Full-Art is:
- Twice as difficult to pull as an Enigma
- Eight times as difficult to pull as a WHOOSH!
- 180 times as difficult to pull as an Infinity
- 360 times as difficult to pull as an All-Time 100 Club card
Suddenly, one in 12 sounds positively generous.
All-Time 100 Club: the anniversary set Match Attax needed
A 20th-anniversary collection was always going to require a special 100 Club.
Topps invited supporters to help select the greatest UEFA Champions League Match Attax players of all time, with the winners appearing together in a nine-card holographic set. That gives the All-Time 100 Club a genuine reason to exist beyond adding another layer of foil.
These cards are advertised at approximately one in 12 packets. That makes finding one exciting without pushing the set completely out of reach.
There is also a card sitting above the 100 Club. Ronaldinho appears as the All-Time Unbeatable 101, celebrating the player voted the greatest UEFA Champions League Match Attax player of all time.
It is exactly the sort of card a 20th-anniversary collection should contain. The famous 101 rating is part of Match Attax folklore, and bringing it back for one of football’s great entertainers feels completely right.
Collectors buying a Full Box should note that its separate Hero Pack guarantees an All-Time 100 Club card. That guaranteed card is in addition to anything found randomly inside the box’s 35 regular packets.
Infinity: one card is only the beginning
Infinity returns as a nine-card holographic puzzle set, with an advertised pull rate of approximately one in 24 packets.
Each card works individually, but place the complete set together and the nine designs form one larger image. That makes an Infinity pull slightly dangerous in the best possible way. You admire the card for a moment, notice one edge of the larger picture and immediately start wondering what the other eight look like.
It is a clever collecting idea because the satisfaction does not end with finding a single card. Infinity practically demands a binder page of its own.
The packet rate is only part of the picture. A random Infinity card is also included with the Match Attax 2026/27 Starter Pack, while the Full Box Hero Pack guarantees one alongside its other special cards.
That makes Infinity a perfect example of the difference between packet rarity and actual availability. Pulling one randomly is a one-in-24 chase, but some sealed products provide a guaranteed route to owning one.
WHOOSH!: football crashes into a comic book
WHOOSH! is the design that will probably stop people mid-conversation.
These ten cards throw footballers into explosive, comic-inspired scenes filled with movement, colour and enough energy to make the players look as though they are about to burst through the card. They do not resemble a slightly shinier version of something elsewhere in the binder. They look completely different.
The WHOOSH! checklist contains:
- Max Dowman
- Rayan Cherki
- David Beckham
- Florian Wirtz
- Lionel Messi
- Ronaldo
- Jamal Musiala
- Harry Kane
- Désiré Doué
- Pio Esposito
That is a properly entertaining selection. Beckham, Messi and Ronaldo provide the all-time star power, while players such as Dowman, Doué and Esposito give the checklist a next-generation edge.
WHOOSH! cards are advertised at approximately one in every 540 packets.
That means they are genuinely rare. A standard display contains 35 regular packets, so 540 packets are equivalent to a little over 15 full displays.
This does not mean a WHOOSH! card is hiding inside every 15th box. One might appear in the first packet from a new display. Several displays could be opened without producing one. The comparison simply shows how far beyond an ordinary box hit these cards sit.
If a WHOOSH! appears, stop. Look at it properly. Then put it in a sleeve before everybody else asks to hold it.
Enigma: one player, two sides
If WHOOSH! goes for noise and colour, Enigma takes a more mysterious route.
Each card uses two images of the same player, creating a layered design built around the different sides of their presence on the pitch. The result feels more like a premium football poster than a conventional Match Attax card.
The ten-player Enigma checklist features:
- Erling Haaland
- Bruno Fernandes
- Hugo Ekitiké
- Mohamed Salah
- Raphinha
- Jude Bellingham
- Vini Jr.
- Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
- Lautaro Martínez
- Christian Pulisic
The advertised pull rate is approximately one in every 2,160 packets.
That is four times harder than finding a WHOOSH! card.
Expressed another way, 2,160 packets amount to more than 61 standard 35-packet displays. That number is useful for understanding the rarity, but it should not be mistaken for instructions. Opening 61 or 62 displays would not guarantee an Enigma.
These are cards to be amazed by when they appear, not cards an ordinary collector should expect to find by buying a certain number of boxes.
Mystical Full-Art: the monster pull
And then there is Mystical.
Only five players appear in the Full-Art set:
- Erling Haaland
- Bukayo Saka
- Lamine Yamal
- Kylian Mbappé
- Michael Olise
The design gives the artwork far more room than a traditional Match Attax layout. Rather than placing the player inside a familiar frame, Mystical makes the image the main event.
The advertised pull rate is approximately one in every 4,320 packets.
That is the longest published rate attached to a named chase family in the main collection. In display terms, 4,320 packets are equivalent to more than 123 standard 35-packet boxes.
A number that large is difficult to picture, so here is the honest version: most collectors will not pull a Mystical Full-Art card.
That is not a criticism. It is what makes the card a true monster pull. The excitement comes from knowing that it could be there, even though the chance is tiny.
What nobody should do is treat one as inevitable. There is no point at which a Mystical card becomes “due”, and no packet knows how many unsuccessful packets came before it.
If one does emerge, however, that is the moment the room erupts.
What does “one in 540 packets” actually mean?
Pull rates are simple to read and surprisingly easy to misunderstand.
If a card is advertised at one in 540 packets, that does not mean:
- Every group of 540 packets contains exactly one
- Every case contains one
- The 540th packet must produce the card
- A long run of misses makes the next packet more likely
- All sealed products have identical collation
- Buying enough packets eventually creates a guarantee
The rate describes an approximate average across the relevant production and distribution.
Even in a simplified model where each packet offers a completely independent one-in-540 chance, opening 540 packets would only give around a 63 per cent chance of finding at least one. It would not produce certainty.
Real manufacturing and collation are more complicated than a neat classroom probability exercise, but the underlying lesson remains the same: the denominator is not a countdown.
One in 540 does not mean “buy 540 and receive one”. It means “this is an exceptionally difficult card to find”.
Does a display box guarantee a rare card?
Yes, but it is important to be precise about which rare cards are guaranteed.
A standard Match Attax 2026/27 Full Box contains:
- 35 regular trade packets
- One separate Hero Pack
Topps says the Hero Pack contains:
- One Super Rare base parallel
- One All-Time 100 Club card
- One Infinity card
- One 20th Anniversary Limited Edition card
That is a strong selection, but it does not include a guaranteed WHOOSH!, Enigma or Mystical Full-Art card.
Anything found in the 35 standard packets is separate from those Hero Pack guarantees. It is therefore possible to find additional chase cards, but the box should never be described as though one of the three biggest hits is certain.
The Hero Pack guarantees a good finish to the opening. It does not smuggle a Mystical into every display.

Why “Limited Edition” does not always mean “hardest to find”
The words “Limited Edition” carry enormous weight on a football card, particularly for younger collectors. They sound as though the card must be among the rarest in the collection.
Sometimes, however, “exclusive” is the more useful word.
Match Attax 2026/27 includes several Limited Edition families distributed through particular products:
- 20th Anniversary Limited Editions, including two random cards with the Eco Pack
- Age of Heroes cards in Booster Tins
- Greatest Hits cards in Mega Tins
- Black Nitro in the online-exclusive Starter Pack
- Festive Edition cards in the Countdown Calendar
A Limited Edition card can be available only from one product while also being guaranteed inside that product. It may be exclusive without having anything resembling the one-in-2,160 odds of an Enigma card.
Imagine two cards. The first is only available in a particular tin, but every copy of that tin includes it. The second could appear in an ordinary packet, but only at a rate of one in several thousand. Which is rarer?
The wording on the front does not settle the question. Distribution matters.
This is especially important when swapping cards. “Limited Edition” should never be treated as automatic proof that a card is more valuable, more desirable or harder to obtain than everything without those words.
Which is the rarest Match Attax 2026/27 card?
Based on the rates published for the main collection, Mystical Full-Art is the hardest named card family to pull, at approximately one in 4,320 packets.
That does not mean we can identify one of the five Mystical players as the single rarest card.
Topps has published a rate for the family, not separate print runs or odds for Haaland, Saka, Yamal, Mbappé and Olise. Unless player-specific figures appear, claiming that one was printed in smaller quantities would be guesswork.
Early selling prices do not prove it either.
A Lamine Yamal or Kylian Mbappé card might attract more attention because of the player. That can affect demand and price without telling us anything about whether fewer copies exist. Popularity, value and rarity often influence one another, but they are not the same thing.
The honest answer is that Mystical is the rarest published family. We do not yet have enough official information to crown one individual card as rarer than the others.
What should you do if you pull a rare Match Attax card?
First, enjoy it. There is no need to turn every exciting pull into a financial calculation before the packet is even off the table.
Then give the card a little care:
- Hold it by the edges.
- Avoid placing it face-down on a rough or dirty surface.
- Put it into a clean trading card sleeve.
- Add a more rigid holder if it is a particularly important pull.
- Keep it away from drinks, direct sunlight and enthusiastic younger siblings.
- Check the official checklist before agreeing to a swap.
Condition matters, particularly with dark borders, foil surfaces and full-art cards that can show small marks. A sleeve costs very little and prevents many of the scratches and damaged corners caused by repeated handling.
Most importantly, do not rush into selling or swapping a card simply because somebody online has attached an enormous price to another copy.
An asking price is only what a seller hopes to receive. It is not proof of what a card is worth.
A word for younger collectors and parents
The huge odds are exciting. They are supposed to be.
There is nothing wrong with dreaming about finding a Mystical card in the next packet. That possibility adds a little electricity to every opening.
The trouble begins when the rarest cards start to feel like the only cards that matter.
Match Attax is still about building a binder, finding favourite players, making a team, swapping duplicates and arguing over whether a 101 rating is delightfully brilliant or completely outrageous. Those parts of the hobby remain fun whether or not a one-in-4,320 card ever appears.
A few sensible rules can keep it that way:
- Set a spending limit before opening packets
- Never keep buying because a rare card feels overdue
- Check stars, colours and card types before swapping
- Ask an adult to help with unusually scarce cards
- Do not trust spectacular online asking prices without evidence
- Remember that both people should be happy with a swap
- Collecting one club or favourite player is just as valid as completing everything
If the aim is to own one specific card, buying or trading for that card may be more predictable than chasing it through sealed packets. Opening packets is entertainment. It is not a dependable way to find a particular player.
The simplest way to understand Match Attax rarity
Match Attax 2026/27 looks gloriously chaotic when you first open the collector guide.
Stars. Colours. Foils. Limited Editions. Infinity cards. Hyper Rares that are not the same as other Hyper Rares. Pull rates that leap from one in 12 to one in 4,320.
Strip it back, though, and four rules explain almost everything:
- Stars show rarity within the base-parallel family
- Mirror Foils and Rainbow Foils are regular insert groups
- All-Time 100 Club, Infinity, WHOOSH!, Enigma and Mystical have separate chase rates
- Limited Editions are generally connected to particular products
The five-star black Hyper Rare is the top of the base-parallel ladder. WHOOSH! and Enigma are separate premium chases. Mystical Full-Art is the hardest named family in the main collection, advertised at approximately one in 4,320 packets.
That is a fearsome pull rate.
It is also exactly the sort of card that makes opening a packet feel different. Almost certainly, it will contain the familiar mixture of base cards and foils that gradually fills a binder. Very occasionally, it might contain the card everybody wants to see.
And that tiny possibility is where the magic lives.

How we checked this guide
This article was checked against official Topps UK product information and the official Topps Match Attax 2026/27 rarity guide. Pull rates are approximate packet odds across the wider print run – they do not guarantee what will appear in an individual packet, multipack or display box. Information last checked in September 2026.
