Warhammer Colour: Base Averland Sunset 12ml
Averland Sunset Base paint gives your miniatures a warm, rich yellow foundation with a matt finish. It is a useful starting point for yellow armour, cloth and bold markings, especially when you want to build up to brighter highlights. This 12ml pot comes in the new Warhammer Colour branding, replacing the previous Citadel Colour presentation.
If you have ever struggled to get an even yellow, a solid basecoat makes the next stages much easier. The Base formulation has a high pigment count to help establish the colour before you add shades and layers. You can keep its warm tone as the main colour, or use it beneath a brighter yellow for more contrast.
Using Averland Sunset Base paint
Apply the paint over a primed miniature, thinning it with a little water so it flows smoothly from your brush. Work in thin coats and let each one dry before adding more. This helps you build even coverage while keeping small details clear. If the first coat looks a little patchy, add another thin coat rather than a thick layer.
Once your basecoat is dry, add shading to the recesses and tidy the raised areas with Averland Sunset. You can then layer Yriel Yellow over the areas you want to brighten. Leave some of the warmer base colour visible around the shaded edges to give the yellow more depth.
Try it on armour panels, robes, shields or the yellow sections of hazard stripes. It is also handy for small details such as badges and weapon markings, where a touch of warm yellow can break up a darker scheme. Whether you are painting a whole unit or a single character, the colour gives you a consistent starting point.
Supplied in a 12ml pot. The water-based formula makes brush cleaning straightforward with water after use.
