Warhammer Colour: Base Phoenician Purple 12ml

Phoenician Purple Base paint gives your miniatures a rich purple foundation with a smooth matt finish. It is a useful starting point for purple armour, flowing robes and bold decorative details. This 12ml pot comes in the new Warhammer Colour branding, replacing the previous Citadel Colour presentation.

The Base formulation has a high pigment count to help you establish a solid colour before moving on to shades and layers. Keep the purple as the main tone of your scheme, or build brighter highlights over it to bring out the shape of your model. It works just as well on a small detail as it does across a larger area of armour.

Using Phoenician Purple Base paint

Apply the paint over a primed miniature and thin it with a little water on your palette. Aim for a consistency that flows from the brush without flooding the surface. Work in thin coats, allowing each one to dry before adding another, so you can build even coverage while keeping fine details clear.

Once the basecoat is dry, add shading to the recesses to give the purple more depth. You can then tidy the raised areas with Phoenician Purple before adding a lighter purple highlight. Leaving some of the darker colour visible around the edges helps the brighter areas stand out.

For robes and cloaks, follow the raised folds with your highlights and keep the deepest creases darker. On armour, use a fine brush to pick out panel edges and corners. These small changes in tone help show the shape of the miniature without losing the richness of the base colour.

Try it on shields, banners or decorative trim when you want a touch of purple in a larger scheme. You can also use it across a whole unit for a consistent starting point. Whether your next project is a single character or a growing army, the colour gives you plenty of room to develop your own finish.

Supplied in a 12ml pot. Clean your brush with water after use.
