Warhammer Colour: Layer Stormvermin Fur 12ml
Stormvermin Fur Layer paint brings a muted grey-brown tone to your miniatures. It is a useful choice for natural fur, worn cloth and understated highlights, especially when you want softer contrast in an earthy colour scheme. This 12ml pot comes in the new Warhammer Colour branding, replacing the previous Citadel Colour presentation.
The colour works well when you want to bring out texture without making every detail look too bright. Try it on a fur cloak, the folds of a weathered robe or small areas of kit. Its neutral tone also helps you tie different parts of a model together while leaving brighter colours to draw the eye.
Using Stormvermin Fur Layer paint
Start over a dry basecoat and thin a little paint with water on your palette. Apply it in thin layers, allowing each one to dry before adding more. This gives you control over the finish and helps keep the small details on your miniature clear.
For fur, pick out the raised strands and leave the darker base colour visible between them. Work with the direction of the sculpted hair so the highlights follow its shape. You can then add a lighter colour to a few tips for extra definition, keeping most of the grey-brown tone visible.
On cloth, place the paint along the raised folds and the areas that would catch the light. Leave the recesses darker to show the shape of the fabric. A few careful layers can make a cloak or tunic easier to read without losing its worn, practical look.
Stormvermin Fur is also handy for subtle highlights on dark brown details. Test a small area first to see how it sits alongside your chosen base colour. Whether you are finishing a character or painting a whole unit, it gives you another option for building a natural, subdued palette.
Supplied in a 12ml pot. Clean your brush with water after use.
