Orks: Big Mek Dakkarig

The Big Mek Dakkarig is what happens when an Ork inventor decides that an ordinary gun simply isn’t loud, large or dangerous enough. Carrying its Big Mek pilot into battle on a set of hefty mechanical legs, this walking weapon platform brings an impressive amount of firepower to Orks armies in Warhammer 40,000.

Dominating the miniature is the enormous four-barrelled blitzkannon, fed by two ammunition belts and backed up by six drum magazines. Expended drums are discarded beneath the machine as it advances, with one already being crushed underfoot. Add in its rokkits, kustom force field and ramshackle armour plating, and the Dakkarig captures the improvised engineering and brutal practicality of Ork technology perfectly.

Assembly and Painting

The Big Mek Dakkarig is supplied unpainted and will require assembly. It features push-fit construction, although Citadel Plastic Glue can be used to secure the components permanently, which we advise. Citadel Colour paints are recommended for finishing the model.

With its exposed machinery, battered armour, ammunition belts, glowing kustom force field and towering blitzkannon, the Dakkarig offers plenty of room for weathering, clan colours and individual touches. As the design carries no fixed clan markings, it can be painted to match anything from the wealthy Bad Moons to the scavenging Deathskulls.

Tactical Use & Strategic Role

The Big Mek Dakkarig provides a durable walking gun platform – built to deliver sustained ranged fire. The blitzkannon is effective against enemies smaller than Monsters or Vehicles, while its rokkits provide further firepower against bigger, tougher targets.

Although it lacks the dedicated close-combat ability of a Deff Dread or Killa Kan, the Dakkarig can operate behind more aggressive walkers and keep firing as they advance. Its Walker keyword also makes it a natural addition to a Dread Mob, where it can benefit from the detachment’s supporting rules and Stratagems.

Loud, heavily armed and covered in wonderfully excessive mechanical detail, the Big Mek Dakkarig makes a distinctive centrepiece for an Ork force and an ideal addition to any collection built around Meks, walkers and overwhelming dakka.
