Warhammer Colour: Layer Auric Armour Gold 12ml
Auric Armour Gold Layer paint brings a bright metallic gold finish to your miniatures, making it a handy choice for armour, ornate trim and decorative details. If your gold looks a little flat after shading, a few careful highlights can bring the shine back. This 12ml pot comes in the new Warhammer Colour branding, replacing the previous Citadel Colour presentation.
It suits everything from the gleaming armour of Stormcast Eternals to the fine details on Adeptus Custodes. You can also use it on weapon fittings, jewellery, shields and raised symbols. The lighter gold tone helps those small features catch the light, giving you a clear contrast between shaded recesses and brighter edges.
Using Auric Armour Gold Layer paint
Start over a dry metallic basecoat, such as Retributor Armour, and apply the paint in thin layers. After shading the gold, use your brush to pick out the raised areas while leaving the darker colour in the recesses. This gives the metal more depth without covering the shadows you have already painted.
For neat edge highlights, use a small amount of paint and work along the edges of armour plates or trim. Build up the brightness gradually, letting each layer dry before adding the next. You can keep the effect subtle with a few fine lines, or cover more of the raised surface for a brighter overall finish.
Auric Armour Gold is also useful for bringing worn gold details back into focus. Try it on the most exposed edges of a shield or the raised parts of an emblem. For an extra bright finishing touch, add a lighter metallic highlight just to the sharpest points.
Supplied in a 12ml pot. The water-based formula allows you to thin the paint with a little water and clean your brushes after use.
