Dry Brushes

Dry brushing is a quick and effective way to bring out raised details, textured surfaces and sharp edges. This category contains purpose-made dry brushes with firm bristles and shapes suited to working a small amount of paint across the surface of a miniature, vehicle, base or piece of scenery.

Our Pro Arte dry brushes are available in several sizes, including the smaller Pro Arte Dry Brush size 4 and the broader Pro Arte Dry Brush size 10. Smaller brushes give you more control around individual areas, while larger sizes are helpful for terrain, vehicles and broad textures. You can also find a coordinated option in our paint brush sets.

Dry brushes are useful for adding highlights to fur, stone, metal, armour and scenery without painting every raised detail individually. Browse our brush care and accessories to help look after your brushes after use. If you are new to the technique, our beginner’s guide to painting miniatures explains how dry brushing fits alongside base colours, shading and more controlled highlights.
