Description
Master of Rites Paperback by Rob Young follows the Ultramarines Sixth Company into a brutal campaign against the Death Guard in the plague-ridden Khorsari Reach.
What Is It?
Master of Rites is a Black Library Warhammer 40,000 novel starring Ferren Areios, the former Unnumbered Son who now serves as Captain of the Ultramarines Sixth Company.
Areios first appeared in the Dawn of Fire series, but this full-length story takes place beyond that saga and can be enjoyed without reading the preceding novels.
The Story
The Khorsari Reach has been lost to the Imperium for more than a decade, its worlds held by the pestilent forces of the Death Guard. Ferren Areios pledges to cleanse the region and avenge those killed by the servants of Nurgle, leading his Ultramarines into a brutal campaign to reclaim these long-lost worlds.
With the Great Rift strengthening the powers of Chaos, the Plague Marines dig in and force the Sixth Company into a grinding war of attrition. As casualties rise and corruption threatens to consume what remains of his humanity, Areios must rally his isolated forces and find a way to break Nurgle’s hold over the Khorsari Reach.
Why You’ll Like It
Master of Rites gives readers a closer look at one of the memorable Space Marines introduced during the Dawn of Fire series. It combines the disciplined character of the Ultramarines with the relentless horror of the Death Guard, placing Areios in a campaign where leadership, endurance and humanity matter as much as battlefield victory.
Established Dawn of Fire readers can continue Ferren Areios’ story, while newcomers can approach the novel as a standalone Warhammer 40,000 adventure.
