The Legiones Astartes MKIV Tactical Squad brings one of the most recognisable armour patterns of the Horus Heresy to the tabletop. Clad in sleek Mark IV ‘Maximus’ power armour, these Legionaries form the core of an Asartes Legion, advancing beneath volleys of bolter fire before taking and holding vital ground.

With 20 highly customisable miniatures and enough command components to create one large squad or two separate units, this is an excellent foundation for building or expanding any Loyalist or Traitor Legiones Astartes force.

Product Features

This multipart plastic kit builds 20 Legionaries in Mark IV ‘Maximus’ power armour for games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.

Each Legionary is armed with a bolter and bolt pistol, with optional grenades, bayonets, holstered pistols and pouches allowing you to add individual details throughout the squad. The kit includes 20 helmeted heads, 12 bare heads and interchangeable shoulder pads, giving you plenty of scope to vary the appearance of your warriors.

The miniatures can be assembled as a single Tactical Squad of 20 Legionaries or as two separate squads of 10. Components are included to build two Sergeants, each with a choice of bolt pistol or plasma pistol alongside a power sword, power fist or lightning claw.

You can also build two Legionaries carrying back-mounted vexillas and two equipped with nuncio-voxes. Alternatively, the miniatures can be used to represent Veteran Tactical Squads.

The models carry no Legion-specific sculpted markings, making them suitable for any of the 18 Space Marine Legions, whether they remain loyal to the Emperor or fight alongside the Warmaster.

The transfer sheet contains 618 waterslide transfers, including Legion icons for the Sons of Horus, Iron Warriors, Salamanders and Imperial Fists, alongside honour markings and squad numbers.

Assembly and Painting

The Legiones Astartes MKIV Tactical Squad are supplied unpainted and will require assembly. Warhammer Colour Plastic Glue and suitable modelling tools are recommended. Warhammer Colour paints can be used to finish the squad in the colours of your chosen Legion.

The clean lines, armoured cabling and distinctive helmets of Mark IV armour make these miniatures particularly satisfying to paint. Their Legion-neutral design also gives you complete freedom to recreate an established Legion force or develop your own campaign markings, honours and weathering.

Battlefield Role

Tactical Squads are the mainstay of Astartes Legions, providing reliable infantry. The are capable of attacking fortified positions, reinforcing a battle line and securing objectives. Armed with bolters – these Legionaries can deliver ranged fire while supporting the wider advance of your army.

Their flexible unit size allows you to field a substantial block of 20 warriors or divide the kit into two independent squads of 10, giving you a versatile core around which to build your Horus Heresy force. They also fit naturally alongside transports, command units, specialist infantry and heavier Legion assets.
