Kill Team: Spectre Squad – Veteran Astra Militarum Reconnaissance Operatives

Spectre Squads are the eyes and ears of the Astra Militarum, operating ahead of the main battle line to gather intelligence, identify threats and strike from unexpected directions. Unlike the tightly controlled ranks of ordinary Imperial Guard formations, these hardened veterans are trusted to rely on fieldcraft, experience and personal initiative when completing their missions.

This multipart plastic kit builds a highly customisable squad of 10 Astra Militarum operatives and a Vox-Relay Beacon. They can be deployed as a complete Spectre Squad in games of Kill Team or added to an Astra Militarum army in Warhammer 40,000. With numerous specialist builds, interchangeable heads and several weapon choices, the kit offers plenty of scope for creating a distinctive veteran reconnaissance unit.

Product Features

The kit includes components for building a wide selection of Spectre Squad specialists, including a Veteran Sergeant, Sharpshooter, Gunner, Guide, Heavy Gunner, Vox-Operators, Grenadier, Loader, Field Medicae and Stub-Gunner.

Most specialists can alternatively be assembled as standard Troopers, allowing you to tailor the squad around your preferred selection of operatives. Each Trooper includes two head options and can be armed with either a lasrifle or lascarbine.

The Veteran Sergeant has three head options and may be equipped with a bionic right arm. The Gunner can carry either a meltagun or plasmagun, while the Vox-Operator includes two different right arm options. Interchangeable weapon arms and heads provide further opportunities to personalise the squad and give every veteran their own character.

The separate Vox-Relay Beacon adds an additional battlefield element and reinforces the squad’s role as reconnaissance and communications specialists.

The included Cadian Transfer Sheet contains 597 waterslide transfers, including Astra Militarum insignia, numerals, honour markings, squad numbers, crusade markings, rank icons and decorative symbols.

A sheet of 38 double-sided Spectre Squad tokens is also provided, helping you keep track of equipment and in-game effects during your Kill Team battles.

Assembly and Painting

The Spectre Squad miniatures require assembly and are supplied unpainted. Warhammer Colour Plastic Glue is recommended for construction, alongside suitable modelling tools such as Super Fine Detail Cutters.

The mix of veteran equipment, specialist weapons, individual head options and battlefield gear makes this an enjoyable squad to personalise. The miniatures also provide plenty of opportunities for painting worn uniforms, military markings, equipment pouches, communications gear and the distinctive iconography of your chosen Astra Militarum regiment using Warhammer Colour paints.

Battlefield Role

In Kill Team, the Spectre Squad bring a flexible unit of experienced reconnaissance ops. They combine specialist personnel with the weapons and equipment needed to operate in dangerous territory. The available builds let you assemble characters focused on communications, navigation, precision shooting and heavier firepower.

The squad can also be fielded as part of an Astra Militarum army in Warhammer 40,000. Its stealth, infiltration and aggressive reconnaissance theme makes it a natural fit for a force built around veteran soldiers, forward operatives and disciplined Imperial infantry.

With its extensive build options and strong recon abilities, the Spectre Squad is an excellent project for anyone who enjoys characterful Imperial Guard infantry. Whether deployed on tightly contested Kill Team battlefields or alongside a larger Astra Militarum regiment, these veterans bring plenty of modelling variety and individual personality to the collection.
