Description
Synopsis
The Death Korps of Krieg are prepared to spend their lives in service of the Imperium. On Rezlan VI, that resolve may destroy the very regiment Commissar Valian Hesh has been sent to guide.
Serving alongside the 472nd Siege Regiment in its war against the T’au, Hesh sees the danger in a planned assault. The soldiers are willing to press forward whatever the cost, but he must persuade them that withdrawing now is the only way to preserve their strength for the fight ahead. It is a difficult argument to make to troops whose reputation rests on sacrifice and unwavering duty.
Death Rider places that conflict at the heart of the story. Hesh must command in the face of an enemy army while challenging what his own soldiers believe duty demands of them.
Why Read It
For readers drawn to the Death Korps of Krieg, this novel looks beyond their familiar battlefield image. It asks what happens when courage and obedience lead toward a needless loss, and whether a Commissar can convince Krieg soldiers that survival can also serve the Emperor.
