Description
Synopsis
A vital manufactorum stands in the path of an Ork attack, and Lieutenant Kallisto Rytsar has little time to build its defence. She draws together surviving Valhallan tanks and crews, making use of what remains after earlier fighting rather than the force she would choose to command.
The people around her have already paid heavily for the war. Armed workers and wounded soldiers join the effort as the defenders prepare to meet the Orks. Holding the manufactorum will demand more than firepower: Rytsar must make a fighting force out of crews, vehicles and civilians under extraordinary pressure.
Crucible of Fire brings an armoured Imperial defence down to the people inside and around its tanks. The scale of the war is immense, but the immediate question is whether this improvised force can hold a place the Imperium cannot afford to lose.
