Warhammer Colour: Layer Dawnstone 12ml

Warhammer Colour Dawnstone is a mid-grey Layer paint for building smooth highlights and clear definition on painted miniatures. Its neutral tone works particularly well on armour, cloth, stone, machinery, weapons and other areas that need a balanced grey finish.

Layer paint supports controlled applications over established base colours. Build Dawnstone gradually to create smooth transitions from darker greys and black. As a result, the shading and definition beneath remain visible.

The 12ml pot features the new Warhammer Colour branding, replacing the previous Citadel Colour presentation.

Using Dawnstone Layer Paint

Apply Dawnstone in thin coats over a fully dry base colour. Next, use a suitable brush to pick out raised surfaces, edges and details that naturally catch the light.

For smoother transitions, thin the paint slightly and build the colour through several controlled applications. Allow each coat to dry before adding the next. This helps maintain an even finish and keeps fine details clear.

You can also use Dawnstone for sharp edge highlights over darker grey or black areas. For example, focus the brightest applications on corners and upper-facing details. This strengthens the definition of armour panels, cloth folds, stone textures and mechanical parts.

Finally, each pot contains 12ml of water-based paint. Clean brushes with water after use.

For hobby use only. Not suitable for children under 12.
