Astra Militarum Baneblade

Few vehicles capture the overwhelming scale of the Astra Militarum quite like the Baneblade. More rolling fortress than conventional battle tank, this enormous war machine combines formidable armour with enough weaponry to dominate the centre of a Warhammer 40,000 battlefield.

The Baneblade is also one of the most versatile vehicle kits available to an Imperial commander. Alongside the classic Baneblade configuration, the kit can build seven alternative super-heavy tanks, each carrying its own distinctive primary weapon and battlefield purpose. Whether you are expanding an armoured regiment or looking for an imposing centrepiece, this is a rewarding project with plenty of modelling and painting potential.

Product Features

The standard Baneblade is armed with a turret-mounted Baneblade cannon and coaxial autocannon, supported by a forward-facing demolisher cannon. Additional weapons include two lascannons, twin heavy bolters, two sponson-mounted twin heavy flamers and a turret-mounted heavy stubber. The twin heavy flamers can instead be replaced with two additional twin heavy bolters.

The kit can alternatively be assembled as one of seven other Astra Militarum super-heavy tanks:

• Banesword armed with a long-ranged quake cannon
• Shadowsword equipped with a tank-destroying volcano cannon
• Doomhammer featuring a magma cannon and troop-carrying capacity
• Stormsword armed with a Stormsword siege cannon
• Banehammer equipped with a tremor cannon
• Stormlord carrying a Vulcan mega-bolter and a large transport compartment
• Hellhammer armed with a Hellhammer cannon for close-range warfare

A broad selection of optional components lets you personalise the finished vehicle. These include additional armour plating for the tracks, tow hooks, fuel cans, equipment and extra stowage. Hatch-mounted gunners and tank commanders are also included, with a selection of heads available.

The tank commander can alternatively be built on foot, armed with either a bolt pistol or laspistol and carrying a power sword or pointing towards the enemy.

The transfer sheet contains 253 waterslide transfers, including Cadian insignia, vehicle numbers, honour markings and additional details for decorating your chosen tank.

The kit is also compatible with the separately available Baneblade Sponsons & Accessories set.

Assembly and Painting

The Astra Militarum Baneblade requires assembly and is supplied unpainted. Warhammer Colour Plastic Glue and Warhammer Colour paints are recommended.

Its vast armour panels provide plenty of room for regiment colours, camouflage patterns, identification markings and weathering. Tracks, exhausts, weapons, stowage and crew members add further detail, making the Baneblade an excellent centrepiece project for painters who enjoy working on large Imperial vehicles.

Battlefield Role

A Baneblade serves as the armoured linchpin of an Astra Militarum force. Its combination of tough armour and extensive weaponry allow it to anchor a battle line, while other armour and infantry advance alongside it. The standard Baneblade offers a versatile selection of weapons. The alternative builds allow the kit to support different army loadouts. From long-range tank hunters and siege vehicles to heavily armed troop carriers.

Whichever version you choose, this super-heavy tank is ideally suited to an Astra Militarum armoured column or a collection built around the Imperium’s largest engines of war.
