Description
Apostle (PB)
In Apostle, David Annandale brings the Word Bearers’ bitter devotion to Chaos to a world built around Imperial faith. This Black Library Warhammer 40,000 paperback novel follows Dark Apostle Cerastes as he returns to his former home, determined to turn its worship against the Emperor.
Synopsis
On Legitur, producing the sacred texts of the Imperial Creed is a way of life. Yet beneath this outward devotion lie secrets unknown even to the Ecclesiarchy that rules it.
Cerastes knows this world, and he intends to claim it. His warband has suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of Palatine Aesura and the Adepta Sororitas of the Order of the Thorn, but his ambitions remain intact. Revenge, the resurrection of the Eightfold Bane and the corruption of Legitur are all part of his purpose.
Why You Will Like It
If the Word Bearers’ religious fanaticism draws you to their stories, Apostle offers a compelling premise: a servant of Chaos seeking to overthrow an entire world’s faith. With the Sisters of Battle standing against Cerastes, this is a confrontation between fiercely opposed beliefs as well as enemies.
Readers of Annandale’s short story Sacred Hate will also recognise Cerastes, returning here with an old defeat to avenge.
